Local business leaders and human resources professionals will discuss methods and needs for employees to be able to voluntarily self-disclose their LGBT status, disability status, and/or veteran status.
Without appropriate data collection, employers cannot measure job satisfaction, engagement, or performance of LGBT employees. "You can not manage what you do not measure." When employees do not self-disclose, they miss out on access to opportunities and resources.
We have assembled a fantastic panel to educate an audience on the value and importance of self-identification in the workplace.
One of the key pieces of this initiative is to raise awareness about the importance of self-identifying in the workplace among the members of the minorities. LGBT people may not be aware of the process and the value of being measured. They may not trust the process. As a result, employers do not feel there is sufficient demand to add more statuses to their voluntary self-disclosure data collection.
