In August of 2018, Greg Glassman, Founder of CrossFit, made the announcement that transgender athletes would be allowed to compete in the 2019 CrossFit Games in the gender category of which they identify - thus changing years of oppression of our trans siblings and their ability to be seen for their true selves in sport.
As part of our mission, The OUT Foundation is embarking on a nationwide town hall tour dubbed the Don’t Be An A**hole, Transgender Education Tour to serve the greater CrossFit, fitness and general business community on best practices for ensuring your space is a safe space for transgender and gender non-conforming athletes.
We are grateful to be able to provide this education and hope it allows us to get one step closer to equality and inclusion in fitness.
What to Expect
As we tour the United States, our goal is to provide easy access to education and to answer burning questions about what it means to be trans in fitness. Each town hall will be about an hour long and will be engaging and enlightening.
Who is this for?
Honestly. Everyone. Our goal is to have as many business owners, trainers, coaches, instructors, athletes, classmates as possible. Everyone will benefit from learning and we promise you will leave having learned something about yourself and the world around you.
Does it cost to attend?
Nope. But we would like you to RSVP so we know how many people to provide seating for. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org OR visit www.iamout.org/tour
Will there be a workout?
Not this time! So come in your work clothes or gym clothes or pajamas. We don’t mind…just come!
Who’s on the team?
These town hall meetings will take place across the country and will be hosted by a team of transgender athletes, coaches, and gym owners and allies of the transgender and gender non-conforming community.
